After Apple Announces Abandonment of Car Project, Musk Quickly Responds with Two Emojis
On February 28th, Apple unexpectedly announced the abandonment of its decade-long electric vehicle development project, shifting the team’s focus to generative AI. Tesla CEO Elon Musk promptly replied on social media with two emojis: a salute and a smoking face.
It is reported that the earliest coverage of Apple’s car project appeared in 2014, with Cook announcing in 2016 the recruitment of hundreds of engineers from car companies such as Tesla, Ford, and General Motors.
According to previous reports, during Tesla’s troubled period in 2018, Musk had approached Apple CEO Tim Cook with the hope of selling Tesla to Apple, only to be met with a cold refusal.
